Welcome to the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. We are proud of our history and our legacy as a premier historically black college and university. Our story begins in the bowels of Richmond, Virginia's most notorious slave jails, Lumpkins' Jail and is continuing as a beacon of theological education lighting the way for many who are called to this place. Our journey has not been a solitary one. We thank the church and community for the rich partnerships we have garnered over the years. UBUNTU is our way of being: I Am Because You Are. STVU exists to equip students for service within diverse, social and religious contexts through a vigorous curriculum that appreciates the journey of each individual. Academic excellence, spiritual transformation and encouraging faithful service to the church and the world.
